Doctor Who – Croatia

Image

The Doctor Who crew traveled to Croatia for two episodes (thus far). The mediëval town of Trogir was used in “The Vampires of Venice” where it doubled as Venice.

Later the same town was used as the home of Vincent van Gogh in “Vincent and the Doctor” (‘though his actual home was in France in the Provence).

The deserted Island where Captain Jack and Elisabeth Swan get marooned is the little Island of Petit Tabac in Saint Vincent. If you look at behind the scenes movie stills, it does not look half as bad to get stranded there…. yohoho and a bottle of rum….

Doctor Who – Neath Abbey

If you have ever watched Doctor who and thought a you had seen that abbey before, it must have been Neath abbey. It was used in numerous episodes, “Beast Below”, “Vincent”, “Rebel Flesh”, “Almost People” and “Power of three”.

Doctor Who – National Museum of Wales

National Museum Wales

The National Museum of Wales is a popular location for the Doctor Who team for filming. It has been used for such episodes as “Dalek” (2004) , “Planet of the Dead” (2009), “Vincent and the Doctor” (2009), “The Big Bang” (2010)  and “The Lazarus Experiment”. This means that so far the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctor have been here…. waiting for you Peter….

Sarah Jane Smith has also been here for “Mona Lisa’s Revenge”, where the Mona Lisa comes to life and turns people into paintings and vice-versa. Mona Lisa is played by Suranne Jones, who also plays Idris -the Tardis- in Doctor Who.

Look at the bottom two pictures. The ‘squid’ can be seen in a shot and the entrance (door on the left) can be seen in Torchwood. The statue with the Medusa head on top of the stairs is visible in many episodes of Doctor Who (and Sarah Jane and Torchwood).
