Doctor Who – Pencoed Studios

For season 10 (2016 recordings, 2017 aired) the “Doctor Who” crew went outside the usual BBC studios of Cardiff to the nearby Sony Studios at Pencoed. Known for their 4K recordings and large sets, it must have been the reason for moving there. Read an article about it here.

NASA Michoud Assembly Facility

Former NASA Facility, but closed after the Space Shuttle program was canceled, now houses the Big Easy production company. Many big blockbuster films have been recorded here over the years. A complete list can be found on the website here. To name a few: “Planet of the Apes”, “Jurassic World“, “Logan” and “Terminator genesys”.

A combination of animation and live action, Robert Zemeckis’ funny movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is set in Hollywood-1947. But only part of the movie was recorded in this area.
