Confirmed location is “The Kimberley Hotel”
White tropical beaches and palm trees is not something that you might assiciate with a Star Wars movie. And that is why director Gareth Edwards choose this location for the planet of Scarif. Never before was there such a location in the Star Wars Universe. And it is very unlikely we see this location in future films… but then again, you never know…
Most scenes of Scarif were filmed in the Maldives (Laamu Gan), but some shots took place in a far less tropical location, Elstree Studios, Hertfordshire England.
Laamu Gan is not the only Island used, also Berasdhoo Island, one of the largest islands was used.
Good luck Jynn!
A small community is about to be torn apart when a young boy is murdered. This exciting Brittish story was set in a small seaside town in the south of England. Most scenes were filmed in Clevedon (for season 1, 2 and 3).
The marine lake, with its stunning view over the Bristol Channel is the setting for the boat burning in series 1.
The Church used throughout the series is St. Andrews Church and cemetery. It is Clevedon’s oldest church (12th century).
The interior of Jack Marshall’s newsagent’s is not a set, but a real store. Alexandra News (on Alexandra Road) provided the property.
Hill Road is Broadchurch’s High Street. With Number 22, the Hotel (Trades), where David Tennant stays. In fact, this used to be a Llods bank (although people did try to book a room or table at the Hotel while te crew was filming in Clevedon). Interiors were filmed at Walton Park Hotel, a little further down the coast.
Other locations in the area uses are Poet’s Walk, Wain’s Hill, Clevedon Pill, Marshall’s Field and Bank.
The Clevedon Pier was not used for Broadchurch (possibly because it is so iconic and people might recognise it immediately). One Direction used it for one of their videos (You and I, 2014) and also Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield were filmed here for “Never Let me Go” (2010).
In the tiny town Interior, South Dakota, big things have happened. Paul Verhoeven came there to film “Starship Troopers” in 1997, Michael Bay did this for “Armageddon”. The location for filming the surface of the asteroid is near Barry Barber Ranch. (The photo of the vehicle was taken near Paris, at Disneyland).
The 2008 James Bond film “Quantum Of Solace” was recorded partly in the Chili dessert at Paranal Observatory. They filmed there for about twelve days and the location was chosen to resemble Bond’s rigid emotions and being on the verge of committing a vengeful act.
If you have ever watched Doctor who and thought a you had seen that abbey before, it must have been Neath abbey. It was used in numerous episodes, “Beast Below”, “Vincent”, “Rebel Flesh”, “Almost People” and “Power of three”.
Why build a whole village, while there is one around anyways? That’s what the designers for Doctor Who, The Robots of Sherwood must have thought. The tourist medieval village of Cosmeston was used as Sherwood.
Stradey Castle is a very popular location for weddings and photoshoots, no wonder the Doctor Who production team used this location for “The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardwrobe”
In Star Wars – A New Hope, Han flies the Falcon over Yavin IV where he is checked by the rebels in a tiny tower. The location for this shoot is in The Americas in Tikal. The hidden rebel base is ofcourse the famous Maya tempel in Tikal.
