Near the glens in the county of Antrim that were used for the Dothraki sea, lies Carncastle (aka Cairncastle). In the HBO series “Game of Thrones”, this castle was used as Winterfel. The mountains above the castle are used in season one, here Ned Stark executed Will.

Game of Thrones – Spain – Roman bridge of Córdoba

The 247 meter long Roman bridge of Córdoba, dating back to the first century BC was used in “Game of Thrones” (S05 2015). It depicted “the Long bridge of Volantis”. It has Islamic (mostly Moorish) archetecture, which prooved usefull for the show.

Game of thrones – Magheramorne quarry

The abandoned Magheramorne quarry has been used by HBO for “Game of Thrones”. A complete set of Castle Black has been build here as well as “The Wall” and fully realized Hardhome set. Although some interiors were build here, most were recorded in Belfast at “Paint Hall” studios. It is not open for public.
