In 1974 a small crew went to scotland to film their movie “The Holy Grail”. The National Trust of Scotland gave them permission to film at several location, but denied them that shortly before filming. With very little time to find alternative locations, Doune Castle was chosen. This one castle became the location for Camelot, Castle Anthrax and Swamp Castle. The hilarious film became a great succes.

In 2015, this Castle turned from the famous Camelot to the also famous Winterfell for the TV series “Game of Thrones”, who decided to come and film here as well.
