O’ahu has been a movie location for many films and TV productions. John Panzarella, the location scout for Aloha used this location as well in 2015. He used the “tapestry of locations” in and around Honolulu to make the bittersweet movie “with a kick of hope”, starring Bradley Cooper.
Locations used are: Diamond Head Crater, Chinatown, Hickam Field (military base where half the movie was shot). Alec Baldwin’s office is the actual PACAF Headquarters office of General Herbert “Hawk” Carlisle.
Also used is the village of Pu’uhonua O Waimanalo. The village was shot with minimum decoration.
Other Hawaii locations included Battery Birkhimer, the Breakers Hotel, Wai’oli Tea Room and the National Memorial Cemetary.
